Welcome to the Board Game and Brew Meetup! We’re a friendly community of board game enthusiasts who meet weekly (Saturdays or Sundays) to play a variety of games. While Catan will always have a special place at our table, our gatherings now feature a wide variety of games that spark laughter, creativity, and a little friendly competition. We also enjoy learning new games if you have something you love playing. Whether you’re brand new to board games or a seasoned strategist, this is the perfect place to meet new friends, enjoy great company, and dive into fun adventures over games, food, and drinks. I love playing games (I own about 500) and I'm just looking for people to play with. My preference is ones that are more interactive, because I want to interact and get to know people while having fun. In general, I pick the games, but I'm very open to suggestion. If you're new, don't bring anything - just come be a part. We do play a lot of group games, more than hardcore strategy (I like those, too, it's just a player count thing). We meet every Friday and Saturday night, unless I have something better to do. FYI: Being popular is a nice problem to have, but my apartment can only hold so many. And I do give priority to folks who are already regulars, so it can be tricky to break in. But I do strive to be welcoming, so my rule is the first 8 people who RSVP are guaranteed a spot, no matter new or regulars. After that, I do pull in folks from the waiting list as there is room, so look out for that. Please be kind, patient and respectful and put having a good time above winning. Drinks and a big bowl of candy are on me. If you want to bring stuff to share, I won't say no. If you are allergic, be aware that I have a cat. FYI - I am often asked what games we play. CODE OF CONDUCT If you love board games but, like many others, have difficulty finding regular games where you can meet fellow board-gamers then you have come to the right page!  Chicago Board Games Meetup is a weekly, board game meetup where board-gamers can explore the city - try new venues - and connect with fellow board game enthusiasts.  Our group is evolving and we would love any feedback you have, so feel free to get in touch with us. • We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form, be it verbal, physical, online, or otherwise. This extends to incidents involving group members, yet outside of our events. -To that end, we do what we can as Hosts and Showrunner try to introduce ourselves to everyone. Our names are listed below: Hosts: Daniel Twan Showrunner: Xain If anyone who's name is not listed above attempts to ban people or act like they're in a leadership role will be asked to leave immediately and not return. • We understand gaming is competitive by nature, and trash talking is a part of it, however sometimes players can take this too far to the detriment of the enjoyment of the game.   Updated note: Clear disrespect also is not tolerated within the group. Any comments or complaints will be looked into. • If someone lets you know you’re being inappropriate, respect them and stop. Respect each players individuality and allow everyone to make up their own minds during their turn.  • If you think they’re making a mistake - ask if they want your opinion before offering it.  • The group is intended for adults, the minimum age is 21+ as we are a bar-focused group. • Request permission before taking photos that includes anyone's faces. • Respect each other, and observe basic hygiene (if you’re sick, don’t spread it).  • Respect the venue, tidy up after yourself. If you moved a table, or chair, move it back.  • Consent applies to board game communities too. You are not obliged to play games with people you do not enjoy playing games with. You are allowed to say 'no'. If you do find you are avoiding playing with anyone, for any reason, please let the organizer know.  • If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a meetup organizer as soon as you feel it is safe to do so.  • Advertisements and spam will not be tolerated from non-active members and will result in an instant and irrevocable ban.
